Catching a flight at the crack of dawn is stressful enough. You really don’t want to add airport parking to the mix, especially if you’re flying out of Atlanta Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world. If you’re flying early in the morning, you want to park somewhere safe, within 5-6 miles, and with an airport shuttle. You really don’t want to be hunting for a cab or a rideshare in the early hours of the morning!
That’s the broad plan. To make your choice easier, we’ll now walk you through all your parking options, including prices, shuttle options, and smart tips.
Your two main options are parking at the official Atlanta Airport lots or offsite parking near the airport. Most offsite and some onsite lots offer complimentary rides to and from the terminals. If you absolutely want to avoid getting a shuttle, park at the ATL West Deck. You’ll still need to take the SkyTrain, after which there’s a short indoor walk. However, this comes at a price of $30/day, which is still cheaper than the hourly lots – the only lots at a walking distance from the airport. There is cheaper parking at the official Atlanta Airport lots, the economy lots at $15/day, and the park-ride lots at $30/day. The hourly lots are the most expensive at $50-$75/day.
If you’re going away for 3 days or more, we strongly (for obvious reasons!) recommend parking offsite. On the Globalairportparking.com website, we offer safe parking lots near Atlanta Airport for very affordable rates. We’ve also partnered with some leading hotels near the airport to offer parking with free shuttle service.
Some of the lots we’d recommend for an early morning flight out of Atlanta Airport are:

A few more tips before we let you get back to your packing:
- Book your parking spot at least 48 hours before your flight, especially if you’re flying out on a Friday morning or around a holiday weekend. ATL sees close to 300,000 passengers on its busiest days, and offsite lots fill up faster than you’d expect.
- Confirm your shuttle schedule before you book. Most offsite lots run shuttles around the clock, but a handful operate only between certain hours. For a 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. departure, you’ll want to double-check that your lot’s first shuttle runs at least 2.5 hours before your flight.
- Factor in extra TSA time, no matter when you’re flying. Hartsfield-Jackson is the busiest airport in the country, and security wait times are unpredictable even during off-peak times. Go in expecting a 20-minute wait, and it can easily turn into an hour. It could be due to a staffing crunch, a screening equipment issue, or even several early-morning flights all boarding at once. To be on the safe side, get there at least two and a half hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international one. If you have TSA PreCheck or CLEAR, use them, but don’t assume they’ll cut your wait down to zero at ATL. Check the airport’s live wait time page before you leave your lot, and if you want real-time ground truth, a quick search on Reddit will usually turn up recent reports from travelers already inside the terminal.
- Keep your booking confirmation handy. Most lots will ask for it when you pull in, and having it on your phone saves you from fumbling around at the gate at 4 in the morning.
- Check if covered/indoor parking is available during the summer (yes, you read that right). Atlanta summers are brutal, and coming back to a car that’s been baking in an open lot for a week is nobody’s idea of a welcome home.
